Empathic Manager Series: Labor Relations 101 Training

Description: The purpose of the Labor Relations 101 training is to provide managers with an in depth understanding of the relevant aspects of labor relations including:

(1) The role and function of the National Labor Relations Board
(2) Organizing tactics used by Labor Unions
(3) Recognizing and addressing organizational risks or “Hot Spots”
(4) The Employee Free Choice Act overview (i.e. EFCA or Card Check Bill)
(5) Avoiding unfair labor practices (T.I.P.S.)

The Deep Dive

Description: The purpose of the Deep Dive environmental assessment is to provide management with an accurate understanding of the issues and challenges facing the employees – from the perspective of the employees.

Labor Relations Campaign Management

The Empathic Managers’ approach to campaign management is unique and effective because we transcend the traditional antagonistic approach by otherwise offering employees a viable alternative to third party intervention.  We use captive audience meetings to inform employees of their rights and facts related to the proposed union, in addition to educating employees about the potential reality of joining a union.  When we are not conducting captive audience meetings, Empathic Manager’s consultant(s) engage in one-on-one discussions with employees and conduct “walk-throughs” so as to establish a strong rapport with employees and to also gain a better understanding of their work place environment.

Throughout the process, we work with and educate the management team regarding campaign topics and issues.

Training

Communicating For Success

The Communicating For Success Training teaches participants how to constructively engage with their internal and external customers.  Participants will walk away from the training with an increased understanding of the power of listening, while possessing the necessary tools and techniques to take their interpersonal skills to the next level.  In addition, participants will learn techniques and strategies in support of both electronic and written communications.

Empathic Leadership Training

The goal of the Empathic Leadership Training is to teach participants how to address issues and barriers that stand in the way of both personal and team success.  By understanding the change curve, participants will learn how change affects the individual and organization coupled with techniques for managing through that change while retaining talent and maintaining productivity.  Through this, participants will also learn how to address organizational conflicts in a constructive manner.

The Shadow of The Leader Training

“Leadership” is a behavior, not a title.  The role of leadership is not an easy one, and unfortunately most people have no idea what it truly means to be a leader.  The Shadow of The Leader training challenges participants to answer one central question, “What Type of Leader Do I Choose To Be?”  During this training, participants will discover, or rediscover, the fundamentals of leadership. They will gain the self-confidence, humility, internal motivation and the vision necessary to wield their power as a leader.

Managing Successfully Through Change

The Managing Successfully Through Change training is designed to assist both managers and staff with navigating the changes that are a normal part of organizational and personal growth while maintaining sight of the human components that define the culture and make the organization special.  The resulting Empathic Manager will have the tools necessary to not only cope with and lead through change, but to also strengthen the interpersonal relationships that are necessary to ensure the success of the entire organization.

Team Building Workshop

Our Team Building Workshop is designed to build, motivate and challenge your team to move beyond the barriers to success.  In this workshop, participants will learn how to:

  • Identify and clarify team roles;
  • Facilitate real time conflict resolution;
  • Create internal alignment by creating/clarifying their vision and mission statements; engage internal and external customers, and;
  • Move from team potential to team actualization.

Organizational Strategy Development Workshop

Our Organizational Strategy Development Workshop will facilitate the development of short and long-term strategic plans that begin with defining and/or clarifying the organization’s vision, mission and values and include the development of strategies for product and service delivery along with the success criteria to ensure that goals are clearly defined.  Participants proceed with results they can immediately implement and will remain assured that they were working on the right things and at the right time.

Empathic Leadership Workshop

Ever wonder what it would be like to walk in the proverbial shoes of someone else?  The Empathic Leadership Workshop will allow participants to experience the world through the eyes of someone else – be it their employees, co-workers or even their boss!

Empathy is defined as the capability to share another’s emotions and feelings.  It is demonstrated in one’s ability to care about the wellbeing of another.  The Empathic Leadership workshop teaches and inspires teams to overcome barriers to success without losing sight of the interpersonal relationships that make the organization unique
